With this project I wanted to create a house which I could later transform it into a group of modular set pieces, using the less number of textures I could. As well as develop a kit for the doors and windows, in order to be able to create more complex scenes while keeping an eye on the number of draw calls, and optimization.
I've modeled everything using Blender, even when I needed to sculpt something. All the textures were created using Substance Painter, except for the tileable ones used in the landscape, which were created in Substance Designer. I'm a very curious person, so even that it's not my everyday function, I've also created the shaders and VFX, but I don't have enough courage to show how they're made because they're a little messy.
Talking about the scene, to achieve my initial goal, I decided to play it safe and tried to recreate the iconic Kame House from Dragon Ball series. Also, this is my version of Master Roshi house, so I've added some elements in the environment for my own fun and to tell a little piece of story:
- Master Roshi has a enviable longevity! He already lived more than three hundred years by beginning of the Dragon Ball series, and rumor has that he spent some of his lifetime, in the middle of the 1970's more precisely, living abroad the southern portion of the south america wandering in the southern Brazil and Uruguay, and, well I don't know, but, it seems like he has developed a taste for some of the most
popular elements of the gaucho culture at that time, and surprinsingly he kept with him until these days!
I had a blast through this little project, and hope I can create more things I like as soon as possible!
Cheers!
